Back in 1934, our grandfather opened a boutique jewellery store in downtown Johannesburg, South Africa.

In the time honoured tradition of apprenticeship, the art of jewellery making was lovingly taught to him by his grandfather, a renowned and talented goldsmith, who in turn was taught by his grandfather before him.

The lineage continues today with Lawrence Brown, who upholds the deep-rooted family history of innovative design and traditional craftsmanship. Under his curation and artistic direction, this family institution is proud to offer fine jewellery of distinction that is recognisable by our iconic Pink Angel.

Generations of Browns have pioneered South Africa’s jewellery industry for over 90 years. Following in Grandpa Jack’s footsteps, Larry continues the family tradition of fine jewellery design and in March 2023 we proudly welcomed baby Alexander, our 6th generation legacy.

It all began in 1934 when Grandpa Jack designed and crafted a diamond angel necklace for the love of his life. Her name was Kate, and she later became our grandmother.

This Original Angel evolved into our Maker's Mark, a signature that communicates expert craftsmanship and pieces of art made from the finest materials and natural diamonds.
